What do MITRE Computer Science/Software Engineering Interns? Working alongside MITRE engineers or on teams in one of our labs, MITRE Computer Science/Software Engineering Interns and New Grads supply high-impact consultative software engineering expertise that yield affordable, effective and efficient solutions that address the greatest challenges of our sponsors. They help develop and introduce the latest computing applicationsincluding mobile, help with software performance, and with enterprise integration and workflow solutions. Key Description: The MITRE Corporation is offering an internship to a highly motivated, responsible, independent and detail-oriented student with interests in language and the ability of computers to help analyze, find and extract meaning from naturally occurring text. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to strengthen their skills in natural language processing, language analysis, computer programming (in Python) to process language and structured data. There will be opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of very senior and early career researchers to build high quality large volume training data sets for use in statistical machine learning natural language processing systems. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree majoring in linguistics, computer science or equivalent technical field as well as: Maintain academic record of excellence including a 3.5 GPA or higher. Ability to write clear and effective programs in Python. Detail oriented, with an interest in studying and analyzing language. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Maintain academic record of excellence. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in one of the following areas: Text annotation. Computer Programming in a high-level language, especially Python.
