This internship is an opportunity to gain hands on experience in a busy HR Dept. where you can learn the inside workings of a small, but fast expanding NPO and assist our executive team to grow in the fulfillment of our hiring goals in support of our mission providing alternative education resources for at-risk-youth. In this position you will gain hands-on experience in Human Resources. Responsibilities include: Check and respond to email 2x a day; manage the interview calendar; help interview and on-board candidates; Verify and check candidates references; Assist in HR communications; Be responsible for employee engagement; Follow and help develop company protocol; Manage sensitive documents; Train and supervise your successor; Attend occasional interviews and/or staff meetings (in person); follow up with successful candidates; write job descriptions; project management, team building and more. We seek candidates with the following: Excellent communication skills; Self-motivation, reliability; Ambition, strong work ethic, and openness to new ideas; A self-starter with problem solving skills; A person with a passion for learning new things; A career oriented individual; Some college or degree preferred; Local near to Oakland California area Length and Time Expectations * 8 hours of HR Director Assistance per week, 3 of which must be during regular business hours. * A 9 month commitment with the possibility of an extension of a longer term for excellent performance * Most employers look for at least a year or two of experience in a field, excellent work can extend your stay with us. * Telecommute and choose your own hours, but must be able to attend periodic F2F team meetings and interviews in Oakland. * This is an unpaid internship designed to help our interns valuable experience for their careers, while helping us grow.
