Our services are designed to accelerate pharmaceutical development for small molecules, biologics, and vaccines, allowing our clients to make faster decisions about their compounds. PPD is currently recruiting for our2019 Internship Program at our Middleton, WI GMP Laboratory. We are seeking studentsthat have a Junior or Senior status. The Program requires full-time Summer hoursAND part-time Fall hours. The Fall semester will offer flexibility around thestudent's schedule, but we would prefer at least 2 available days during theweek. The student will benefit by applying what they have learned in the classroom to practical situations and by having various opportunities to develop professionally. Our GMPBiopharmaceutical Lab, one of our fastest growing labs, focuses on largemolecule analytical testing. They work with a wide range of biologicsincluding therapeutic peptides, proteins and DNR/RNA based treatments(gene therapies). A large variety of analytical methodologies areused including HPLC, ELISA, CE, ICE, gel electrophoresis and massspectrometry. Interns will learn about a contract research laboratory and their role within the pharmaceutical research and development industry. They will also be assigned specific project activities under the direction of their supervisor. The student will benefit by applying what they have learned in the classroom to practical situations and by having various opportunities to develop professionally. Pay: $12.00/hr. Degree concentrations desired: Chemistry, Biochemistry,Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, Biology or other life sciencedegrees. Responsibilities include: Assisting team members with assigned tasks in specificproject areas, as well as completing tasks in "Student's MeasurableLearning Objectives" Training within department (attend departmentalspecific training) Attending meetings and other learning opportunities Other tasks under the direction of the PPD supervisor Education and Experience: Must be enrolled in a Life Science Undergraduateprogram Typically enrolled as a rising Junior or rising Senior Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good communication and interpersonal skills Good organizational skills and strong attention todetail, with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently andeffectively Good English and grammar skills Good computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel,PowerPoint, etc. Working Conditions: Work is performed in Regulated Laboratory environment Physical Demands: Frequently stationary for 4-6 hours perday. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the abilityto make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, andwrists. Occasional mobility required. Occasional crouching, stooping, bending and twisting ofupper body and neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying (or otherwisemoves) objects including luggage and laptop computer with a maximum liftof 15-20 lbs. Ability to access and use a variety of computersoftware developed both in-house and off-the-shelf. Ability to communicate information and ideas so otherswill understand; with the ability to listen to and understand informationand ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. May interact with others, relating and gatheringsensitive information. Interaction includes diverse groups. Works with guidance or reliance on oral or writteninstructions from management. May require periods of intenseconcentration. Performs a wide range of variable tasks as dictated byvariable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as tothe occurrence.
