What job title, keywords Where city, state, country Home View All Jobs ( 2,457,062 ) Job Information Jacobs JSEG Integrated Avionics Test Facility (IATF) Summer Intern in Huntsville , Alabama JSEG Integrated Avionics Test Facility (IATF) Summer Intern Description The Integrated Avionics Test Facility (IATF) Summer Intern will support the Space Systems Department in the Systems Integration and Test Facility (SITF) and Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) Hardware-in-the-Loop facility (HWIL) which is used to verify the integrated avionics system for the Space Launch System (SLS) at NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The selected candidate will: Work within a highly integrated team of senior engineers or scientists. Be introduced to the processes and then help to provide coordination and integration support related to these tasks. Take on additional responsibilities as they become more familiar with the tasks and key players. Required Experience: Must be able to perform a power Safe-to-Mate safely with Avionics hardware. Must have an understanding of the power and data flow within the SLS Avionics Test Lab(s). Must have experience with wiring using schematics/drawings/diagrams. Must have experience with running a simulation in a controlled environment. Must be familiar with analysis tools such as DERPY and SPRAT. Additional position requirements are: Must be able to provide own transportation. Possess strong customer relations skills Have the ability to multi-task and transition between quick turnaround assignments Show initiative and be proactive to make connections and build relationships with key players on the tasks Demonstrate the capability to plan and perform analyses independently and as a team Demonstrate strong technical writing and presentation skills in order to present data to study customers Support integration troubleshooting activities. Assist, develop and/or execute test plans and procedures. Enter or update documentation into appropriate control systems. Adhere to the Jacobs/ESSCA BelowZero safety policy. Python experience The selected candidate will work integrally with JSEG team and customer engineers and engineering technicians as needed to perform training assignments as an entry-level position: Perform training assignments designed to develop professional working knowledge and abilities Follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Receive on-the-job training in the engineering and scientific fields to utilize tools such as: take measurements, take test readings and record findings, perform basic mathematics using standard formulas, perform analysis using DERPY or SPRAT, conduct basic field observations and obtain, identify, handle, and store material samples, and assist higher level technicians by preparing graphs, charts, diagrams, and visual presentations. Essential Functions Work Environment Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (15%). Physical Requirements Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and Jacobs facilities (10%). Equipment and Machines Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%). Attendance Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required. Other Essential Functions The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%).
