Intern Description: Under the supervision of the Manager, Central Lab and Plant Chemist, works on a variety of assignments to provide reliability and chemistry support to Evergys fleet of power plants. Will assist Plant Chemistry Supervisors, Plant Chemists, Predictive Maintenance Analysts and Reliability Engineers with a wide range of technologies to help achieve improved reliability. Job tasks include but not limited to: Assist with safety observations Evaluation of chemistry data. Assisting the Central Chemistry Leadership team manage and develop fleet chemistry programs. Quality Analysis and Quality Control of power plant analytical data. Assist with chemistry program development training Collecting vibration signatures, and oil samples from various rotating power plant equipment as well as infrared images from electrical equipment Analyzing data from predictive maintenance routes and work management systems Assisting with process improvements Assisting Reliability Engineers with conducting Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Center Maintenance Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a university or technical program in one of the following or a related technical field: Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering, or Industrial Engineering. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required: Excellent communication, public relations, teamwork and technical skills. Strong math, business/technical writing and technical reading skills. Experience in the use of spreadsheets, word processing, and applicable engineering software. Skills are necessary in planning, organizing, oral and written communication, prioritizing and team building. Ability to quickly learn and become proficient in use of new computer software and programs. Working Conditions: Requires extensive on site plant work with some office work. Requires the ability to work outdoors and in an industrial plant environment including, but not limited to, exposure to ambient temperature extremes, dusty/moist environments, climbing ladders and stairways, working at heights on elevated structures and platforms, and working in cramped spaces occasionally which may require bending, stooping, and standing.
