We are seeking a Project Specialist Intern for our Patent Group/Denver office. As an intern, you will assist attorneys with domestic patent applications, including technical research and analysis with respect to matters pending before the U.S. Patent Office. Are you currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering? Do you have an interest in the legal field and patent practice group? If so, then we would love to hear from you. This internship will be full-time during the summer of 2019 with the possibility of continuing part-time into the school year of 2019/2020. In this role, you will: * Run patent searches. * Perform prior art searches. * Perform basic analysis of large portfolios of patents to validate, categorize, and quantify patent search results. * Check status of and look up information for U.S. and international patents and apps (using USPTO PAIR, WIPO, etc.). * Perform online research on products, including research in online databases. * Prepare and format Excel spreadsheets, tables, and charts related to patent assets and/or projects. * Track and report on the status of patent applications marked for monitoring. * Maintain and index repositories of product and patent related documents. What we are looking for: * Current student pursuing an undergraduate technical degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. * Ability to communicate clearly in oral and written form. * Excellent attention to detail. * Excellent organizational skills. * Ability to prioritize. Preferred: * Familiarity with the patent prosecution process. * Familiarity with docketing and filing responsibilities. * Knowledge of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office electronic filing system. * Knowledge of docketing databases. * Ability to conduct searches on computer databases.
