This full-time paid internship opportunity is for the summer of 2019. Position Description: Summer Intern role within Drug Product/Combination Products group, Global Technical Operations to work on commercial products and devices. The intern will work on projects related to commercial drug products and devices managing the risk assessments and development history. This position is within a corporate technical group and will not be based in the laboratory or manufacturing plant. The position is based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Essential Job Functions: Work on projects similar to the following: Streamline and improve process risk assessments for commercial drug product Implement novel software to pilot managing process risk assessments Streamline and improve process technology transfer information flow Update and manage risk assessment and development history for drug/device combination product The role requires strong technical skills alongside project management, organizational skills and ability to quickly learn new skills. Ensure that work is performed in accordance with appropriate quality and compliance standards, e.g. GMP/GLP and SHE requirements. Demonstrate creativity and innovation to implement new methods, products, technologies or ways of working in area of expertise Position Qualifications: Current university student (BS level) with preference for rising juniors or seniors Engineering or Science with preference for bio/ biomedical related fields Excellent communications skills with the ability to work effectively in cross functional teams and effectively influence team members. Establish effective relationships with stakeholders. Ability to work in a complex, dynamic, global environment and willingness to travel when necessary. Innovative problem-solving skills Strong technical writer Statistical analysis experience Education Requirements: Current undergraduate university student (BS Engineering/Science) preferably in biological/ biomedical or bioengineering area Skills/Abilities: Self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision. Evidence of strong communication skills and of building good relationships with cross functional team members and customers. Comfortable working with software applications Proficient experience in Microsoft Windows applications (Excel), Minitab/JMP or similar statistics package To participate in the AstraZeneca Intern Program, Students must meet the following eligibility criteria: * Legal authorization to work in the U.S. * Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following AstraZeneca assignment * Minimum grade point average of 3.0 preferred * At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
