POSITION PURPOSE: The Payroll Accounting internship provides current students with exposure to a business environment, specifically in Payroll's Accounting and Quality Assurance/Analytics functional areas. The intern will work in an atmosphere intended to broaden an entry level candidate's professional understanding while promoting self-confidence, accomplishment, and career development in the area of Accounting and Quality Assurance/Analytics. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively collaborate with other interns and team members on various processes and projects Perform Quality Assurance review and provide grading on Service Now tickets Work with stores and payroll processing to resolve outstanding final pay items Responsible for account reconciliations including researching and compiling data to support general ledger balances Support analytics team in creating and publishing statistical reports Adhere to compliance and company policies and procedures Complete tasks assignments and projects according to guidance and instructions Attend training sessions and meetings relating to pertinent job duties and career development Apply accounting concepts and analytical abilities in the completion of task assignments Build effective relationships both within and outside the department Seek input from and maintain effective ongoing communication with others Final Internship Project KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Education: Must be a Junior, Senior, Graduate or Doctorate student currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Business or Finance degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA (required) Experience: Previous internship or relevant work experience preferred including charity work or experience on school campus organizations but not required. Expectations: Ability to work at our corporate facility in North Phoenix (I-17 & Loop 101) Ability to commit to a full-time work schedule (40 hours/week) Ability to commit to the full length of the internship program Skills: Good understanding of financial and accounting concepts Good theoretical and practical knowledge of GAAP Good understanding of Payroll, HR and Benefit data and processes is helpful, but not required Knowledge of MS Excel, Word.
