This job brought to you by eQuest Type: Part-Time Location : Troy, Michigan Job Description: APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP AT MOTOR At MOTOR, we design information solutions for the vehicle aftermarket from decades of automotive content related to parts, repair and service. These solutions are delivered as printed books, data extracts, web services, and software applications. Our Application Development team of analysts, developers, architects, DBAs, and Project Managers design and deliver both internal content management tools and external facing applications. We have an immediate need for several Application Development Interns reporting directly to the Director of Application Development. We are primarily a Microsoft shop using Visual Studio development tools to create HTML5, CSS3, Web Services, C#, ASP.NET and .NET applications that connect to MS SQL Server databases. JOB DESCRIPTION Primary Responsibilities * Assist in the development of new, high performance using MV* programming frameworks and various DBMS solutions. * Exposure to SQL, RESTful Web Services, .NET 4.5 Framework, and Visual Studio 2012. * Exposure to JavaScript and JQuery or equivalent technologies. * Participate in code peer reviews to learn industry and language best practices in design, development, and architecture of existing and future large-scale solutions. * Learn to efficiently build and maintain tools that increase productivity and quality. * Keep up to date with the latest tools, techniques and best practices and help introduce new ideas to the team. * Generate technical artifacts describing solution architecture, data flow, and process flow and software design. * Consult with Business Analysts, Developers, Project Managers, and Subject Matter Experts to understand and resolve issues as well as design and implement new solutions. * Participate in the development of creating best-of-breed user experiences for both internal and external MOTOR Information Systems product portfolio. * Collaborate with other stakeholders to conceptualize, design, and prototype ideas, then inspire and assist peers in the development of these solutions. * Challenge existing UI Paradigms and status quo, driving innovation and ingenuity. * Work directly with Business Analysts, Product and Application Development management to translate business and marketing goals into best-of-breed solutions for MOTOR Information Systems. * Work directly with the Application Development team to ensure workflow reflects the customer's needs/requirements, and ensure consistency among features. * Assist in the testing and certification of MOTOR solutions. * Assist in the development of automating Quality Assurance processes. Required Qualifications * Must be in, and remain in good academic standing with the University throughout internship * Must currently be in Junior or Senior academic year * Must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout internship (progress will be provided to University) * Strong written and verbal communication skills * 1+ years hands-on experience in application development * 1+ years experience in Web Application Development * Strong skills with Microsoft Office applications (MS Access, MS Excel and MS Word) EEO EMPLOYER
