Engineering Intern Advance Engineering Company - Canton, MI 48187 Job title Engineering Intern Reports to Engineering Department Job purpose This job description defines the framework within which the job holder carries out the assigned responsibilities. It defines obligations, duties, and responsibilities as well as the boundaries in which the job holder is authorized to act. Duties and responsibilities General: * Assure compliance with Advance Engineering Employment Practices as well as Safety and Environmental Policies as written per the Handbook for Associates. * Wear any and all Personal Protection Equipment in the workplace as required. * Maintain a satisfactory attendance record in accordance with Advance Engineerings Attendance Policy. * Act in the best interest of Advance Engineering and its Associates while offering our customers innovation and value in accordance with Company Policy and Standards of Conduct. Job Specific: * Work with engineering team on quotations, APQP, and PPAP processes. * Support Manufacturing product builds and provide details on corrective action where required. * Contribute to supplier evaluation and qualification meetings. * Work through 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles to implement in both departments. * Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. * Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Qualifications * Must be a full-time or part-time student at an accredited college or university in the southeast Michigan area with engineering as a major course of study. * Must have advanced PC skills and experience with Microsoft applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Excel). * Must have a professional business demeanor with strong communication and presentational skills. Working conditions * Job holder works in a production plant and office environment and could be exposed to various levels of noise coming from several different types of production machinery. Physical requirements * Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. * Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
