Lone Star College-Tomball, located north of Houston and founded in 1988, offers a wide range of programs including the college system's only veterinary technology program and leading health sciences programs. Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Chief Strategist, the OSI Intern will work closely with a Program Managers and Directors within the Office of Strategic Initiatives to complete several departmental programs and initiatives that support the mission and vision of Lone Star College-Tomball (i.e. Creating Social Media Data Center, Diversity Summit, and TEDxTomballED). Will also be responsible for providing input on the creation of faculty and staff training initiatives and researching current and future trends in marketing, communication, teaching, and organizational development. This opportunity will not lead to a permanent position within the Office of Strategic Initiative. Job Functions: - Provide direction and leadership to students, faculty and staff as part of the planning committees for the implementation of departmental initiatives - Work directly with the Chief Strategist, Directors, and Program Managers to review, assess and evaluate all programs and initiatives; upon completion of the review, will generate a 2-year strategic plan for the Office of Strategic Initiatives - Plan and coordinate the Office of Strategic Initiative Staff Retreat - Participate in professional development opportunities offered within Lone Star College - Attend OSI Leadership Team meetings with the Chief Strategist - Attend President's Executive Cabinet and College Leadership Council Meetings with Chief Strategist - Work with Program Managers and Directors to identify best practices in the areas of social media, multimedia services and minority student programs - Develop and present one Professional Development workshop for the faculty, staff, and administration at LSC-Tomball - Work with the Chief Strategist to identify nudges that can be used to help support the work of the Lone Star-Tomball Data Team - Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: - Detailed analytical skills - Strong attention to detail with the ability to communicate the detailed information in a concise and understandable format - Must be a true team player - Proficient with common office software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel and Access) - Ability to use various software products, databases, and internet - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously - Knowledge of general office practices and procedures - Ability to utilize good judgment Physical Abilities: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Salary: $19.26/per hour Work Schedule & Conditions: - Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment - Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position - Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards Special Instructions: Please go to your profile page.
