This entry-level temporary position will work under the direction of a senior team member and receive specific instruction for required tasks and project components. You will create design drawings, conduct basic engineering calculations on assigned portions of projects, and complete construction observation. Instruction in basic AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Microstation, and/or GeoPak will be provided as you begin to apply engineering education to practical design solutions. Responsibilities Assignments will be tailored to the course work completed by the intern and may include: Drawing (AutoCAD, Microstation) assignments to assist in development of projects Performs standard computations or analysis Observe construction activities Assists on other tasks such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, and CADD work Qualifications Progress towards a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Experience with GeoPak and Microstation skills preferred Experience or knowledge of Iowa DOT Standards and Procedures is preferred ACI Level 1 or Iowa DOT PCC 1 certification a plus Strong technical/qualitative writing ability Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines Participation in Professional Organizations For more information or to apply, please see our website at http://www.kirkham.com Kirkham Michael is an equal opportunity employer.
