Visit our website for more information on our initiatives. www.protectpt.org Description: Water Quality Data Analysis We are seeking a person with a background in chemistry and environmental science or biology to analyze water quality data and prepare a summary report by Aug 1, 2019. This position requires knowledge of general and organic chemistry and competence using Excel for data organization and graphing. The data are from a variety of sources and will be used to develop a formal report and guidelines for water testing in areas impacted by unconventional gas development. Training and support will be provided at the start in the office of Protect PT in Trafford, PA. The intern can eventually work from home. This person will report directly to the Executive Director for Protect PTand the Science Advisors of the Westmoreland Marcellus Citizens Group. Responsibilities: * Organize chemical data from several sources including professional lab analyses. * Assist with scheduled file reviews at government offices. * Analyze data for patterns using Excel or similar programs. * Compare data to published research on water quality. * Prepare a written technical report and a power point for a general audience. * Encouraged to attend occasional evening and weekend events. Qualifications: * Coursework in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. Courses in Environmental Science and/or General Biology are desirable, and coursework or experience in environmental testing or aquatic sciences highly desirable. * Proficiency in Excel and Power-Point and experience in technical report writing is highly desirable. * Ability to work independently and complete tasks within a designated time frame Westmoreland Marcellus Citizens Groupis an all-volunteer citizens group concerned about the many environmental, health, and economic impacts associated with the ever-expanding and massively burgeoning hydraulic fracturing natural gas industry in Westmoreland County, PA.
