Intern will also assist with the regular audit process. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Auditing * Conduct online preliminary audit checks for parishes and schools * Using QuickBooks, analyze financial reports and transactions for trends, accounting issues, and other relevant items when on-site * Assist with on-site audit field work, including * Reviewing accounts payable and receivable; * Asset accounts; * Payroll and tax reporting; * Internal controls and cash handling procedures Financial Analysis * Perform in-depth financial analyses for parish/school capital project and loan requests * Assist with analysis of parish/school budgets Training * Assist with drafting accounting and procedural manuals for parishes and schools * Write, develop, and edit accounting manuals KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES -General knowledge of the Catholic Church and its mission -Knowledge of economic and nonprofit accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data -Committed to ongoing training and professional development; regularly explores methods to improve quality and efficiency of work -Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work tasks -Adheres to the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standards set by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) -Is a self-starter and assertive in completing job tasks and duties -Proficient in computer and keyboard skills as well as an ability to learn and effectively use basic software EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE -Degree or Area of Study: Finance, Accounting, or Business Management -Year of Study: Junior, Senior WORKING CONDITIONS Routine office environment; ADA-accessible building. Requires sitting for the majority of work duration; involves typing and other repetitive movement.
