New Horizon Academy is a Minnesota family-owned and operated company serving and educating young children for over 45 years. We currently have over 70 locations in the Twin Cities, 4 schools in Idaho and we are opening brand new schools in Iowa and Colorado. The key to our success is, of course, our employees. New Horizon Academy is looking for a journalism, communications, or writing student to serve as its 2019 SUMMER INTERN at our Corporate Office in Plymouth, MN. This position includes writing blogs, creating content for our website, and assist in building our content library. Our intern's primary responsibility is to produce content to build our brand and support the customer journey. Through this internship, you will build your professional portfolio, receive mentoring from our communication specialist and editor, and cultivate your skills. Responsibilities * The Content Writer/Strategist will report to the Marketing and Communication Specialist and work with the entire marketing team to plan, research and produce, publish, and promote customer-centric content. * Research various topics, and write content for NHA campaigns, which may include: blogs, articles, emails, landing page copy, ad copy, social media, etc. * Ensure consistency in the brand's voice and tone, storytelling and identity across the entire spectrum of marketing and communications. * Work with marketing team to create messaging and content for key initiatives and develop user journeys to assist with achievement of KPIs. * Edit content produced by other members of the marketing team * Audit current content database/portfolio Minimum Qualifications * Working towards a Bachelor's Degree (in Junior year or higher) in a degreed program focused in Marketing and/or Communications * Excellent writing ability - multiple languages would be very helpful, but not a necessity. * Able to conduct research independently and report on findings to an entire team. * Able to learn and write about a variety of parenting, family, child development topics * Works well with others * Must be self-starter, able to jump in and complete tasks with minimum supervision * Creative and innovative thinker and planner * Confident in producing work across multiple platforms * Familiarity with keyword placement and SEO Preferred Majors Journalism/Communications, Writing, Marketing, Advertising, Business This position description is not intended to be and should not be construed as an all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, or working conditions associated with this position.
