The Champion Academy is in search of passionate and professional individualsinterested in a rewarding internship experience to prepare them for the professional world. Position Summary: Champion Academy is seeking applicants who have a strong interest in business development, marketing, social media, event planning, and grant-writing. This internship will provide extensive support to the Champion Academy Extreme Mentoring & Empowerment Initiative to help at-risk middle and high school students succeed academically and as citizens. Communications and Marketing interns will gain valuable exposure in all areas of the donor relations cycle including identification of donor prospects, outreach, and event planning. In addition, interns will gain experience in social media marketing, will assist our development staffas needed, and will support our Programs department during critical times in the summer programming. This hands-on position will be responsible for assisting across multiple development platforms including corporate, individual, grant, and public sector funding, volunteer management, as well as supporting our Programs department as needed. Preferred Candidates Will: * Be a motivated undergraduate, graduate or recent graduate of an accredited College or University. * Possess excellent oral and written communications skills. * Have some experience inCommunications, Marketing, Business Development, or a related field. * Have the ability to communicate and work effectively and constructively with team. * Be PC and Microsoft Office proficient. * Have the ability to effectively multitask across multiple projects. * Be able to work independently, learn quickly, manage intricate details and meet deadlines in a resourceful and responsive manner. * Provide 1-2 writing samples or projects relevant to this position. Additional Position Specifics: Position responsibilitiesincluding but not limited to: * Prospecting potential donors * Updating and managing a fundraising database * Active donor stewardship * Cataloging donated inventory * Coordinating volunteer events * Coordinating fundraising events * Creating and distribution of donor appeals (i.e. mail merging, stuffing, quality control) * Duties may include, but not limited to community outreach, event planning and set up, grant-writing, and general support forChampion Academy staff Candidates must have transportation to Champion Academyoffice in downtown Rochester, NY. Stipends and performance-based incentives will be provided,and this internship is valid for college credit, if the colleges requirements are satisfied.
