In conjunction with Catholic Health Initiatives, the GA at CHI St. Vincent will center on achieving a broad understanding for the operations, financing and strategic development of a health system through rotating on regular intervals to key departments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Must have successfully completed an accredited bachelors degree program in Public Health, Business, or Health Services Management, with a focus on Health Management. Physical Requirements: Ability to push/pull light objects less than 20 pounds; perform simple manipulative skills such as writing, collating, and grasping objects; perform tasks that require eye-hand coordination such as operating computers and keyboarding skills; perform gross motor coordination such as reaching, turning, and moving about; be mobile and move from one place to another; hearing normal sounds with some background noise. Skills: Strategist and visionary skills; marketing and management skills; managed care skills; entrepreneurial and innovative; able to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts, remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of time, communicate verbally and in written form using advanced level vocabulary and skills, computer skills including word processing and E-mail. Must possess the analytical and quantitative skill sets, including the use of standard business applications. Must adhere to high standards of professional behavior and the core values of Catholic Health Initiatives. FUNCTIONS OF PROGRAM: Leadership/Department Rotations: Understanding the working relationship between the distinct operating units of a health care organization is key to the development of a successful health care leader. For this reason, St. Vincents GA Program includes an orientation combined with department-level work projects aimed to establish an understanding of health system operations. Rotations include: Chief Executive Officer Chief Nurse Executive Hospital Presidents Ambulatory Services Cardiovascular Services Orthopaedics Neurosciences Women & Children Medicine Behavioral science Surgical Services Finance Marketing & Communication Foundation Supply chain AHN Physician Enterprise Mission Hospitality Services o Environmental Services o Security o Transportation o Food Services Project Assignment: In addition to rotations through the organization, it would be expected that the GA apply their educational skills in leading salient projects which have tangible impact on the organization as appropriate. Meeting Participation (on-going): The GA Program would be rounded out with regular participation in leadership meetings that impact the future direction of the organization. These include: Executive Council Presidents Council Meeting Leadership Development Institute Departmental meetings, where appropriate.
