This Legal Department intern position will work from our headquarters in Norfolk, Virginia and gain valuable experience working on important legal and contractual issues in a world class, dynamic, full-service legal environment. The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Chief Counsel for Ship Repair and will primarily support the legal and government contracts departments and work on a broad range of matters, but with a focus on government contracting, litigation, development of government contract claims, and document management. The position involves working directly with in-house attorneys, internal clients, and outside counsel. The internship will include performing legal and general research, document management, drafting memoranda and correspondence, responding to discovery requests, reviewing and drafting contract terms & conditions, and other matters relevant to a corporate legal department. The legal intern will become an integral member of our legal department, which makes this a tremendous opportunity for any law student looking to join an in-house legal team. Required Skills and Education * Currently enrolled in second or third year of law school * Academically accomplished * Strong communication skills * Interpersonal skills and professional demeanor * Ability to work independently * Government Contract and litigation interest * Ability to travel, if necessary, to our shipyards in Jacksonville, FL, San Diego, CA, and Honolulu, HI for projects. Preferred Skills and Education Preferred applicants will have a strong interest in government contracts, litigation, and substantive knowledge of legal issues.
