Overview -This is a paid internship -30-40 hours per week. -Should be comfortable on a construction site -Job is located in Amenia, NY Primary Duties and Responsibilities -Research, identify and broaden subcontractor trade base -Research and identify alternative products that provide -Continuously evaluate various procurement processes that can support the company's unitized cost management strategies and procurement operations -Assist with establishing purchasing and estimating improvement goals and develop effective strategies for achievement. -Assist in the development of performance standards for division personnel and provide direction in the assessment of personnel against those standards. -Work with representatives, identify and communicate best practices regarding estimating utilization; establish effective forums for information sharing and implementing successful practices across projects. -Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price -Managing paperwork -Sending emails -Sending RFP's -Managing Change Orders -Following up with subcontractors Technical Skills -Familiar with various estimating methods, including the use of take-off software. -Ability to read, interpret and analyze construction documents -Proficient in typical Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access and Microsoft Project -Experience with Sage/Timberline and Estimating Software (E-takeoff) a plus Qualifications -In college or have a college degree -Some understanding of construction management -Preferable if you are studying construction management, civil engineering or similar. -Proficiency in verbal and written communications -Must have strong math and science skills.
