# Research Intern Looking for a Spanish speaking research intern with interest in health and/or child psychology for a part-time paid position, approximately 8-12 hours a week. Become part of a clinical research team, under the supervision of Dr. Maureen E. Lyon, at Childrens National Health System in Washington, DC. Assist with an American Cancer Society funded study adapting an evidence based intervention on advance care planning for Spanish Speaking adolescents living with cancer and their families. Responsibilities include: * Assist with recruitment to participate in focus groups and Science Caf� * Consent and assent study participants * Scheduling focus groups and Science Caf� * Administrative tasks related to focus groups and Science Caf� * Recruiting and enrolling participants in the youth focus group, parent focus group and Science Caf� * Audio record focus groups and Science Caf� * Transcribing audiotapes * Facilitate focus group using structured questions * Facilitate Science Caf� using structured approach Research Opportunities include: * Certification as a translator * Potential for presentations and publications * Preparation for graduate school in nursing, psychology, public health, or medicine * Working collaboratively with medical professionals from a range of disciplines including psychology, medicine, and nursing Additional Requirements: * Reliable transportation/willingness to travel to metro area study sites * Evening and weekend hours for phone calls, as needed by patients and families Additional recommended qualifications: * Prior experience in clinical human subjects research * Experience using statistical software (e.g. Microsoft Excel, SPSS) * Experience working with clinical patient populations and families ** ** **Primary Location: **District of Columbia-Washington **Work Locations: ** **Job: **Internship / Trainee **Organization: **Children's National Health System **Job Posting: **Apr 2, 2019, 7:06:13 PM
