We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Social Media / Graphic Design Intern. This is a nonpaid, part-time internship position with a required minimum of 15 hours per week. The Social Media/Graphic Design Intern will support the communications and digital team and will work on special projects in various facets of mission, event and advocacy communications. This intern will have the opportunity to learn and grow their skills within social media, design, communications, advocacy and development or potentially other areas of the American Heart Association, and to join meetings where feedback is encouraged. This position is a three-month commitment, likely involving 15 - 20 hours per week (in the Portland office, remote time also available) from June - August, with the opportunity to continue through fall and/or winter term, depending on the interns desire to learn and availability. The American Heart Association office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Work schedules are typically designed to accommodate student class schedules. Position may qualify for college credit depending on school/university requirements. This position is unpaid. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): * Social media and creative production, including photo and video editing * Marketing collateral print design * Social media management, including but not limited to campaign development and monitoring accounts Minimum Qualifications: * Applicant must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check. * In-depth knowledge of the various social media platforms * Skilled in graphic design and video production for social media or demonstrated ability to learn graphics and video production programs * Must be a resourceful, self-starter with excellent written and oral communications skills * Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to meet goals, often working with limited supervision * Proficient in MS Office applications * Preferred experience with Adobe Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Photoshop * Experience with Canva, Animoto, other design applications a plus Deadline for submission: June 9, 2019 AHA IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER Job Type: Internship
