Intern, Public Relations The Field Museum - Chicago, IL4.4 11 hours agoFull-timeEstimated: $24,000 - $33,000 a year Apply Now The Public Relations department seeks a full-time intern for Summer 2019. This paid internship is Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, running from June through August. As part of the application, please submit a cover letter outlining your interest in science communication and natural history museums. Responsibilities * Write press releases, media alerts, public service announcements, photo captions, and other PR- and brand-related communications * Assist in development and distribution of monthly and quarterly press information * Assist in setup and execution of exhibition openings and press events * Supervise TV and photography shoots * Handle requests from members of the media by phone and email * Assist in archiving media clippings * Develop and update media lists * Handle brochure requests * Assist with filing, copying, and other clerical tasks * Support background research for communications projects * Participate in brainstorms around media opportunities, science communication, exhibition publicity, and programming Qualifications * Must be a full-time student or a recent college graduate * A proven track record of prioritizing and completing multiple assignments * An interest in science, natural history, and/or museums * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of business protocol * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills * Science, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications, and Marketing backgrounds preferred
