Workforce Development Assistant Intern (Temporary) Serco of Texas - Corpus Christi, TX3.2 2 hours agoTemporaryEstimated: $19,000 - $27,000 a year Apply Now Skills * Multilingual * Driver's License * Typing This is a temporary internship position. SUMMARY: This is an excellent opportunity for college students to gain experience in career development, case management, and budget/financial transactions. Duties will include assisting staff in a Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend Career Center with various duties related to career and workforce development RESPONSIBILITIES: Adheres to the mission of SERCO of Texas. Assists job seekers in career centers such as assisting with job applications, registering in job search sites such as WorkInTexas.com, assisting with resumes, researching careers and with career assessments. May perform various office support functions to assist the team. May receive telephone inquiries, activities and operations; accepts, screens, routes telephone calls; may greet and direct visitors when appropriate. May assist Career Counselors with their caseloads including assisting customers overcome barriers to employment such as documenting services and counselor notes in a management information system. May assist in processing financial transactions for trainings, support services and time sheets. May complete paperwork for on the job training, apprenticeship, and work experience. May assist Business Services Representatives with job fairs and hiring events. Assistant may work with a diverse clientele including economically disadvantaged youth and adults, customers on public assistance, dislocated workers, customers receiving unemployment insurance, persons with disabilities, Veterans, etc. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Excellent organizational and typing skills. Excellent written and communication skills required. Professional manners and appearance. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Current college student with at least 60 hours of college credit with plans to return to college in the Fall Semester. Currently working on a degree in sociology, psychology, social work, counseling, business, or other related fields. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to work full internship from mid-May through mid-August, may be extended through September. Must have valid Texas Drivers license. Must have access to reliable transportation in order to travel within service area. Physical demands and work environment: The physical demands and work environment characteristics describe here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing duties of the job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; for long periods of time. Employee must be able to drive for extended periods of time. Employees must occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, must be able to set up display area. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Fast paced, demanding physically and mentally, will be in constant communications.
