Nurse Intern - Emergency Department Location: Waukesha Shift Type: As Needed Weekly Hours: 24 The Emergency Department is a Level 3, fast pace, high acuity ED with 35 patient rooms (stroke and cardiac certified). The unit sees 40,000 plus patients annually (birth to end of life); ENT, eye, GYN, orthopedics, heart care, and Level 111 Trauma. In addition to providing emergency services to patients of all ages the department supports victims of sexual abuser with specially trained sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE). The ED has 100 staff; 52 Nurses, 13 UCCs, and Techs. Hours: 0.6 FTE Nurse Intern. Schedule will be dependant on preceptor and hired intern school schedule. Full Time / Part Time: Part Time with Benefits FTE: 0.60 Nurse Intern A nursing student in who will be entering the final semester of a registered nurse program. Obtains clinical knowledge and technical skills while working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse i.e Clinical Nurse 2, 3 or 4. Under the supervision of the registered nurse, collects objective data according to the clinical practice and theory obtained from nursing education and in orientation. Utilizes this objective data and works under the supervision of the registered nurse in providing nursing care grounded in the ANA standards of nursing practice. May administer medications under the direct supervision of the RN after completing Pharmacology course in school. Responsibilities and accountabilities: Clinical Behaviors of Caring, Clinical Knowledge and Decision-Making, Collaboration, and Leadership Eligibility criteria: * Active enrollment and good standing within an accredited school of nursing * Entering their final semester of clinical rotation with an expected graduation date within the next six months * If the NI fails to complete their academic nursing school program by the expected graduation date, they are no longer eligible for continued NI employment. They will have 30 days in which to apply for and secure an alternate position within the organization.
