Responsibilities This intern will work with senior engineers to:Generate conceptual designs that improve the facades and community spaces of the primary buildings with an emphasis on identifying the role, increasing the emotional aesthetics of the approaches, and improving community spaces to more effectively foster teamwork.Integrate concepts with NASA building code requirements. Prepare documentation supporting facility development efforts with regard to implementing concepts. Introduce NASA procurement practices.Present concepts to senior staff as an incremental process with a focus on socializing the concepts well before they are complete. Qualifications This positions requires:General knowledge and understanding of architectural principles: design, materials, fundamental physics of light, and geometry.General knowledge and understanding of the human element involved in design of work spaces, building facades, and in-fill spaces.General understanding of software tools used to generate concepts such as AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Gimp, as well as a working knowledge of laser cutter engravers, 3D printers, CNC routers, and other tools pertaining to building physical models of concepts.Working towards a Bachelor of Architecture Degree at a university or college accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board.
