City Rochester State Minnesota Telecommute No Department Public Affairs Position description The primary purpose of the Undergraduate Internship is to provide an intern with relevant field experiences in their professional communications. One or more mentors will be assigned to the intern to provide instruction, guidance and to assess performance. The intern is responsible for observing the functions and processes of the assigned work unit. In addition, the intern may be given selected work assignments including writing assignments to reinforce the learning experience, to assess the performance levels and to provide benefit to the work unit. The intern will be responsible for completing all internship-related assignments and reports for both Mayo and the participating educational facility. The Mayo Clinic Communications Division in Public Affairs is offering 12 week, full time internship opportunities for summer. Communications uses strategic communications and tells stories to advance Mayo Clinic's mission and top strategic priorities. This division includes Social and Digital Innovation, Media Relations, Staff Engagement, News Delivery, Practice Communications, Research and Education Communications and Development Communications. Typically, this internship would occur after the student has taken most of the courses required by the degree program. * Priority will be given to students with a major GPA of 3.5 and an overall GPA of 3.2. * Preference given to students pursuing communications (English, Journalism, Social Media or related fields) with completion of basic courses in news writing, script writing or public relations helpful. * Previous internship experience preferred. * Candidates must possess strong writing and computer skills.
