Job Information The Metropolitan Water District of Southern Califo Student Intern (Operational Safety & Regulatory Services) in Los Angeles, California The part-time Student Intern within the Operational Safety and Regulatory Services Section will assist with work in the areas of air quality, wastewater and hazardous materials/waste management. You should have an interest in pursuing a career in environmental compliance or environmental engineering as your assignments will include assisting staff in completing reports, permits, and compliance documents required for federal, state, and local environmental regulatory agencies. You will have the opportunity to learn about and gain exposure to environmental policies, laws and regulations as they relate to Metropolitans day-to-day operations. You will have the opportunity to receive training and mentoring while working under the direction of program managers, environmental specialists and engineers to meet compliance obligations. Any coursework, projects, previous internships or work experience related to the environmental field is highly desired. Work Schedule: Average of 15-18 hours per week during the summer break and academic year. To view the full job description click here: Student Intern EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with junior or senior standing in a related major and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. Related major is defined as: Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering; Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, or Environmental Sciences. Relevant coursework should include one or more of the professional disciplines, such as engineering, chemistry, toxicology, physics, environmental science, and statistics. Please include the college courses you have taken within your resume. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS License(s): Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
