As part of Apturas Construction Document Specialist (CDS) team, the Architectural Designer Intern will assist in architectural drafting and design and the production of schematic, design development and construction drawings. This individual must be a quick learner, observant, and accurate This intern position is year-round, accommodating a part-time schedule during the school year and full-time during breaks and summer. This position may also lead to full-time employment upon graduation for the superior performer. Reports to: CAD/CDS Team Leader Company: Aptura is a project-based professional services unit with specialties in Foodservice Design and Interior Design, Low Voltage Technology Design, and Design/Build. As part of Apturas Construction Document Specialist (CDS) team, the Architectural Designer Intern will assist in architectural drafting and design and the production of schematic, design development and construction drawings. This individual must be a quick learner, observant, and accurate. Essential Job Functions and Leadership Responsibilities: Design Skills Collaborate with Architectural, Interior and Foodservice Designers within a professional studio environment. Assist in developing sophisticated interior architectural solutions for hospitality-like environments for social, activity, dining and other spaces. Assist in creating interior modeling/sketches for client presentations Research products and materials. Understanding of applicable building codes. Construction Drawing Production Quickly, efficiently and accurately work in Revit and 2D CAD, following Aptura Drawing Standards. Learn drawing setups and update architectural backgrounds. Update, revise, and annotate drawings, working off of redlines and schedules. Cloud and track revisions. Create flooring and finish plans. Supporting roles Assist with the production of budgets and schedules Perform area and material take-offs using Bluebeam PDF Revu; calibrating pdfs, exporting markups and summaries Manage large-format plotters, change paper, print, scan, report usage Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Currently enrolled in Bachelors Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Interior Design, Business, or Communications Expert attention to detail Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of an ongoing project team Able to use systems and technology to multi-task and manage time Clear, concise, and professional written and oral communications Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Google Suite Interest in a full-time position in Construction, Development, Interior Design, Foodservice Design, Technology Design after graduation Hours during the school year are part time, approximately 20 hours per week; hours during school breaks are full time, approximately 40 per week Additional Preferred Skills: Experience with programs: Bluebeam Basic experience with office productivity software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or similar.
