Saint Peter's received the award to support a five-year grant project, titled STEM Transformative Experiences (TREX). The project will provide high-impact internship experiences to STEM majors to enhance retention and graduation rates. The STEM Internship Coordinator will report into the Director of Employer Relations and work closely with the STEM Career Coach to communicate, advertise and recruit for the TREX program. The STEM Internship Coordinator will assist in identification and expansion of STEM partnerships, encourage and enable academically eligible students to participate and track student performance. Duties & Responsibilities * Will assist in developing a STEM recruiting strategy to identify STEM Internship opportunities to support the parameters of the TREX grant. * Will work under the direction of the Director of Employer Relations to identify Internship opportunities for our STEM students and will assist in communicating and marketing the opportunities to our students * Conduct proactive outreach efforts to sophomore and junior STEM students to improve student engagement and participation. * Adhere to all guidelines and procedures regarding data management, assessments, processing of timesheets, evaluations, etc. * Act as the liaison between Saint Peter's University and the internship site providing support to our students and corporate and community partners. * Ensure internship sites are visited and monitored for safety and compliance. * Monitor participant outcomes through assessments and evaluation and use that data to develop a comprehensive report of the program. * Work closely with the STEM Career Coach to review employment trends and facilitate professional readiness workshops, mock interviews, job shadow days, etc. to ensure program participants are prepared for the internship. * Conduct an assessment of each student program participant to determine if they are a match for the internship. * Maintain the employment component of the program's database system to ensure case notes and program outcomes are updated regularly. * Support participants in transitioning to employment, training program or post-secondary education. * Attend internal and external meetings, events and trainings. * Submit reports as required including monthly reports to supervisor. Qualification Standards * 1- 3 years of experience as an Internship Coordinator, STEM Job Developer or supporting STEM initiatives, career services and/or career advisement. * Superior interpersonal, customer service and community relationship-building abilities * Proficiency in oral and written presentation and excellent communication skills * Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team * Extensive experience in the use of relevant technologies, particularly with respect to assessments, career development and employment tracking.
