Software Engineering Intern, Distribution Platforms- Seattle, Fall '19 Job ID 675705BR Location Seattle, Washington, United States Business Direct-to-Consumer and International Date posted May. 31, 2019 Job Summary: The DTCI Distribution Platform team is responsible for the data delivery to all of Disney�??s News & Entertainment consumer facing products, like ABCNews, ABC-OTV News, ESPN App, ESPN.com, Fantasy, WatchESPN etc. With millions of users creating billions of requests to platform services on a daily basis, the team focuses heavily on quality, performance and scalability. As the key player in data distribution, the team is also integral in the creation process of digital products and influences their technical design. Responsibilities: As a Software Engineer Intern, you�??ll bring a product to life with a small team of other interns from engineering, design & testing, while receiving guidance from a team of experienced technical mentors. You will evaluate requirements, estimate costs, and create features and services to solve problems at hand. You will also define and implement the quality criteria for your services, using measurements and insights to understand and validate the quality of experience for customers. You will manage risks, leverage other products and technologies, and drive integration with the broader ecosystem. As a software engineer intern, you will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of development and quality of a product (and associated services) that delights Disney guests and consumers. Basic Qualifications: * Strong computer science fundamentals * Proficient in Java, Python or similar programming languages * Strong understanding of object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures and software development lifecycle * Familiarity with Unix/Linux CLI * Excellent communication skills and collaborative work-ethic * Detail oriented with a passion for ownership and technology Preferred Qualifications: * Full stack development experience * Experience with Cloud technologies like Google Cloud, AWS, Azure Required Education * Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Graduate Level student or recent graduate (within 6 months of graduating) pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems or related field Additional Information: * The approximate dates of this internship are September - December 2019 * Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship About Direct-to-Consumer and International: Comprised of Disney�??s international media businesses and the Company�??s various streaming services, the Direct-to-Consumer and International segment aligns technology, content and distribution platforms to expand the Company�??s global footprint and deliver world-class, personalized entertainment experiences to consumers around the world.
