Engineer Intern EMG - Owings Mills, MD3.8 6 hours agoTemporaryEstimated: $34,000 - $45,000 a year Apply Now Skills * Microsoft Project * Project Management * Microsoft Word * Microsoft Office * Excel SUMMARY: Provides technical and administrative support to the Energy Sustainability Practice within the Asset Management Consulting department, while developing increased technical and project management skills. This is a temporary position, approximarely the summer of 2019. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support Energy Sustainability and Lighting Retrofit projects within the Asset Management Consulting department via providing administrative as well as technical assistance. Research prior project information, research prior reports and track project process. Assist with resolving general issues regarding point of contact(s), site information, client delivery and field management. Assist with client follow-up with regards to projects on-hold or awaiting final deliverables. Review, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulic systems and waste management systems to determine the energy consumption of each system. Collect and analyze building data on energy usage. Perform Energy Star Benchmarking for buildings and campuses Identify and prioritize energy saving options. Prepare audit reports detailing energy consumption analysis and energy saving recommendations. Calculate potential cost savings from energy saving devices. Recommend energy efficient technologies, alternate energy sources energy or improvements such as heating system upgrades, attic insulation, window retrofits, etc. Perform special projects as assigned by the Program Managers to capture additional requirements or satisfy client needs. Coordinate various efforts in support of projects from project initiation through project close-out. Export various tracking reports from EMG database in support of tracking projects. Proficient in Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office. May be required to shadow other employees while conduct on-site inspections and building condition assessments. Conducts a Walk-through Survey of the accessible and visible major building systems (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing), structure and foundations, representative interiors, common areas, exterior walls, windows, flat roofs, low-sloped roofs, and pavement. Provides photographic documentation of site and building features and documents observations. Follows all documented policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Work Instructions applicable to the position and support of EMG's quality standards. Deliver outstanding customer service through timely response and proactive solutions for EMG clients and Client Team. Understands and maintains an appropriate level of professionalism and urgency that fits the situation. Protects operations by keeping company information confidential. Demonstrates EMG's guiding principles in support of the company's strategic goals. Maintains safe and clean work area by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations. May be required to work overtime with prior authorization from supervisor QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Undergraduate degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Architecture or related courses preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; basic understanding of and experience with database applications relevant commercial real estate, environmental or engineering industry preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Not required. Other Qualifications: Excellent verbal and written communications skills; detail-oriented; ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; ability to work independently and to perform in a team setting. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the on-site duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: sit stand walk (for most of an 8-hour work day and up to 3 to 4 continuous hours at one time) climb steps climb ladders and/or steep roof stairs (for each building assessed, at least once per on-site assessment) balance stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (to observe basement and grade-level crawl spaces, and/or to read equipment data plates when necessary) talk or hear occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds use hands to finger, handle, or feel reach with hands and arms Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
