Branch Rotational Engineering Intern/Co-Op - Fall 2019 Johnson Controls - Milwaukee, WI3.8 Full-time Skills * Marketing * Construction Estimating * Auto Estimating What you will do We are seeking freshman level engineering students to join our Milwaukee branch for a recurring co-op opportunity. We are building out a unique training program designed to have selected students return to Johnson Controls to complete 3-4 co-op rotations as you progress through your engineering studies. Each co-op opportunity will build upon the knowledge and skills learned in previous rotations resulting in a well-rounded experience. In this program you will have a chance to apply your technical engineering knowledge and work with customers to better understand product or project needs and be the subject matter expert. You will work with various teams in the branch including: applications engineering development, installation management, performance assurance, and our sales/estimator teams. How you will do it You will work with various team members in different parts of the branch. Duties and projects will increase in scope and responsibility as you progress through each co-op rotation. Here are examples of some targets: 1st Rotation: Develop basic understanding of applications engineering function Assist applications engineers with routine tasks Exposure to basic customer service practices Develop basic understanding of estimating knowledge function: Job site visits 2nd Rotation Learn facility management system and controller capabilities and configurations through guided instruction on application examples Assist the project manager / project engineer solve basic internal and external construction job progression issues Learn how to interpret contract documents to identify installation management requirements Develop utility bill and measurement skills Attend brown bag presentations for consulting engineers with experienced salesperson to further system/product knowledge Attend sales calls with experienced construction salesperson to expose to variety of customer types and differing phases of the sales process 3rd Rotation Learn how to deal with job progression issues Learn how to use software and graphics configuration tools Attend job pre-bid, turnover and pre-submittal meetings to appreciate their impact on effective applications engineering performance Learn how to track and manage a jobs financial measurements Develop Indoor Air Quality and Power Quality knowledge Attend sales calls with experienced salesperson to expose to variety of customers and differing phases of the sales process Assist an experienced estimator with creating total project estimates #internship Qualifications What we look for Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university with a freshman or sophomore status. Pursuing a degree in engineering U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S. Attending school in the greater Milwaukee area and available to work at our Milwaukee branch Looking to work with Johnson Controls long term- we are targeting 3 co-op rotations for hired candidates Preferred Qualifications: Engineering, Business or Sales/Marketing background Eager to learn and take initiative to dive into projects and assignments Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment Self-motivated and able to work in a team environment Have a competitive spirit and thrive to win Strong sense of business and technical acumen About JCIs Internship/Co-Op Program: During your assignment with JCI, you may have a variety of developmental opportunities in addition to your work assignments, such as, roundtable discussions with senior leaders to skill-building workshops, networking events, and community activities.
