Cowen Institute for Public Education Initiatives Location: New Orleans, LA Summary The intern will be responsible for helping the Research, Data Analysis, and Information Sharing (RDAIS) team with data collection, cleaning, analysis, and dissemination on public schools in the city. S/he will work in collaboration with the team to build and maintain dynamic datasets of publicly available data and develop written reports and interactive websites for broad audiences of families, educators, and community members. The intern will also assist with our annual State of Public Education in New Orleans report in a data-gathering and copy-editing capacity. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Strong working knowledge of Excel and/or other data analysis programs including STATA, R, or SPSS. * Ability to create and maintain datasets using Excel or Google Sheets. * Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. * Excellent writing, editing, copy-editing, and verbal communication skills. * Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. * Proficient in data visualization tools including Tableau. * Proficient in Python, D3, and/or SQL. * Proficient in Adobe Suite including InDesign and Illustrator. * Knowledge of design and innovative approaches to information sharing. * Understanding of New Orleans public education system. * Ability to pay attention to detail. * Strong technical skills. * Strong writing/editing skills. * Ability to work independently. Required Education and/or Experience: Salary Ranges: Minimum salary(USD $): Maximum salary(USD $): Pay decisions are based on education, experience, skills and budget. The lower third of the range typically applies to less experienced candidates; the middle third for more experienced; and the upper range for those with exceptional qualifications and sustained performance.
