Summer Internship - Public Policy Greater Nashville Regional Council(GNRC) Date Posted: Thursday, June 06, 2019 Current Posting Expires: 8/5/2019 Position Description - Responsibilities and Requirements: The Greater Nashville Regional Council is looking for an intern interested in learning about public policy and land use planning to assist with the operation of Cumberland Region Tomorrow (CRT), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping communities in the Nashville region be great places to live. The duties of the Internship include: * Research & Writing * Research and write policy materials on preservation of natural and agricultural lands * Research and write blog posts on issues relevant to CRT's mission * Organizational Management * Assist with board meetings and committee meetings * Assist with donor management * Outreach & Event Management * Assist with managing social media accounts, including contributing content * Assist with the monthly newsletter (content and distribution) * Schedule and coordinate workshops and events * Prepare meeting materials The required qualifications/skills include: * Interest in land use/urban planning and public policy is a must * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Solid understanding of social media * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications The ideal candidates will be enrolled college students or recent college graduates. Public policy, urban affairs, community development and sustainability majors preferred. This Internship would be 15-20 hours per week. Benefits include a flexible schedule and compensation is available. GNRC is the regional council of governments for Nashville and surrounding counties and serves as one of nine regional economic development districts established by the Tennessee General Assembly in 1965. GNRC's mission is to assist local communities and state agencies in the development of plans and programs that guide growth and development in the most desirable, efficient, ad cost-effective manner, while ensuring the continued long-term livability of the region.
