With expertise in science, health, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales solutionsincluding vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostics, and innovative approaches to strengthening health systems worldwide. PATH is currently recruiting for an internship based in our PATH offices in Seattle, Washington to support data analysis and visualization for the Global Fund Prospective Country Evaluation. The internship will work under the supervision of the Senior MEL Officer, Results, Management, Measurement and Learning. Description of the project the Intern will complete: The intern will refine skills in data preparation, management, visualization, and communication. The intern will apply these skills in supporting the mixed-methods approach of the Global Fund Prospective Country Evaluation (PCE), which offers a unique opportunity to participate in translating evidence to action. As a result, the interns technical data visualization skills will be developed, in addition to their ability to tailor visualizations to specific evaluation questions and stakeholder audiences. Description of overall learning objectives and goals for the internship/benefit to the Intern: The intern will be involved in hands-on work related to data management, transformation, analysis, and visualization of data to inform the PCE. The intern will work with quantitative data from a variety of sources, including country health management information systems, program implementation updates, and resource tracking studies. Brief description of required skills/experience the intern should possess: Enrolled in graduate school program in Data Science, Human-Centered Design and Engineering, Public Health, Public Affairs, or Health Administration (other applicable programs will be considered) Previous experience working with large data sets, including significant responsibilities related to data management, analysis, and visualization. Proficiency working with Excel. Demonstrated experience using Tableau. Familiarity with data visualization principles and story-telling with data. Professional understanding of the importance of maintaining data integrity. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Responsive to cross-cultural sensitivities. Skills to be developed and/or expanded during internship: Data preparation and management Data visualization Knowledge translation Integration of visualizations into mixed methods evaluation approach Proposed activities: Clean, transform, and pivot data, including merging data from multiple large datasets. The indicators of interest will be related to HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and health financing and expenditure. Utilize Tableau to create visualizations of key indicators to support PCE evaluation questions and think through how the visualizations can support a mixed-methods approach. Develop job aids or other resources for PCE team members to support use of the data visualizations. *PATH does not provide a stipend to interns who are California residents. *All PATH internships are eligible for school credit. Please refer to your university's process for credit eligibility. Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
