Job details - Auto req ID - 8553BR - Business Title - Software Intern - Country - United States - State/Province - Wisconsin - City - Waukesha - Regular / Temporary: - Temporary - Full-Time / Part-Time: - Full-time - Overall Job Summary - The primary job function of the Software Intern will be the completion of one or more software projects. A project may include a modification or addition to a portion of the Lightning Pick (LP) product suite, the creation of a software tool for internal LP use, or an addition to an existing customers LP system. The completion of each project may require the software intern to explore, understand, and utilize unfamiliar tools, purchased products, or integrated components. Along with this primary function, the software intern would get the opportunity to participate in LP internal design discussions, planning sessions, and customer events that are held in the Waukesha facility. The software intern would also be expected to learn the basic functionality and application of the Lightning Pick product suite. - Job Responsibilities - (DIV) - Becoming proficient with Lightning Pick products - Learning and using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET - Testing and troubleshooting software - Designing software - Integrating software - Writing software in VB and/or C# .NET - Documenting source code - Use and understanding of Microsoft SQL Server - Writing software documentation - Additional duties as assigned - Qualifications / Requirements - (DIV) - Current enrollment in an associates or undergraduate degree program in a computer science, computer developer, or computer engineering related field at a recognized college or university - High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Outlook & other generally accepted computer standards - Ability to maintain confidentiality and be discrete while accompanying sensitive information - Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, & planning skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients - Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment - Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management - Self-motivated with critical attention to detail and deadlines - Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals - Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs - Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos - Strong desire to apply software in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment - Must have current drivers license - Ability to work overtime as necessary* Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions. - EEO Statement: - Matthews International affords equal employment opportunities to employees and applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, genetic information, age, disability or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.
