This internship is a new partnership between the Offices of Innovative Mobility and the Office of Process Improvement. We believe that increasing the availability and viability of convenient travel choices for all travelers benefits communities, employers, developers, and residents by reducing transportation infrastructure spending, improving quality of life, alleviating vehicular congestion, and improving air quality. DUTIES CDOT is seeking a Transportation Demand Management (TDM) program intern who will have direct influence over employee commute modes by promoting transportation options. This intern will perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: 1. Plan, lead, and execute transportation behavior change pilots and programs for CDOT staff. 2. Develop, produce, and deliver key TDM marketing efforts such as transportation fairs, tabling, lunch and learns, and other forms of employee engagement. 3. Provide information and training on available transportation options; Serve as a liaison and coach to CDOT employees wishing to explore active and shared modes of transportation. 4. Use process improvement tools to lead improvements to existing commuter benefit programs. 5. Lead market research activities such as focus groups, employee surveys, intercept surveys, and other means of formulating and evaluating the impacts of TDM programs. 6. Occasional travel within the Denver metro region and to other areas throughout the state. 7. Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SUBSTITUTIONS, CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & APPEAL RIGHTS: Qualified candidates must be either: * Any college student enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university seeking an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree; OR * A recent college graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. degree within three calendar years; OR * A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program. A current valid driver's license is required for this position as it requires operating a state or personal motor vehicle to perform one or more essential functions of the position. NOTE: A legible copy of your unofficial college transcript(s) or credential evaluation report must be submitted with your application. Transcripts from colleges or universities outside of the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES educational credential evaluation service. The Exceptional Candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate college/university student, or recent graduate as defined above, interested in improving the Colorado Department of Transportation through Transportation Demand Management and has proven accomplishments in the following: * Knowledge of sustainable transportation industry. * Experience with Transportation Demand Management, transportation planning, and community engagement. * A collaborative spirit with excellent follow-up and relationship-building skills. * Strong organizational skills, and an ability to prioritize tasks, self-direct, and take initiative * Presentation and graphic design skills a plus. * Modeling of desired behavior by choosing to walk, bike, roll, take transit, and/or carpool for transportation. * Experience with the Microsoft Office suite and Google Suite; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Illustrator, is a plus.
