Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours per 2 week Pay Period: 80 Primary Location: AR LITTLE ROCK ST VINCENT INFIRMARY Job Description While supporting the goals and objectives of the hospital and upholding the ethics of the profession of pharmacy, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients and pharmacy services to patients, physicians, nurses and ancillary departments.Education: Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) Degree highly preferred. (Graduate of accredited college of pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science permitted with appropriate pharmacy practice experience.) Experience: Completion an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 residency OR Minimum of one year of inpatient pharmacy practice experience highly preferred. Licensure orCertification: LicensurebytheState of Arkansas Board of PharmacySpecialtiesCertificationPreferred Completion of 30hoursofcontinuing education every twoyears. Skills: TheStaffPharmacist must havetraining inon-linedrug informationresources,pharmacyautomation,and computerapplicationsincludingMicrosoftWord,Excel,andPowerPoint. Interpersonaland CommunicationsSkillsarerequired to maintain smooth cooperativeworkingrelationshipswithothers.TheStaffPharmacist must respond quicklytoinquiriesand exercisegoodlistening skills. TheStaffPharmacist must promotecustomersatisfaction asevidenced bypositiveinteractionwithcustomers,promptresolution of problems,and recommendationsforqualityimprovement. Physical Requirements: Atvarioustimes,thefollowing physicalactivitieswillberequired:climbing,stooping,crouching,reaching,standing,carrying,walking,pushing,pulling,lifting,fingerdexterity,talking,and hearing,sometimesexerting inexcess of lifting 50poundsand pushing 100-150lbs. Thesensoryand communicativeactivitiesrequired fortheposition includefeeling,hearing,seeing,smelling and speaking. TheStaffPharmacistisrequired to havetheability to see clearly at 20 or lessinches,toseeclearlyat20feet or more,theabilitytoidentifyand distinguish colors,and to havethevisualacuity to performdailyactivities. TheStaffPharmacistissubjecttoinsideenvironmentalconditions,hazards(including electricalcurrentsandexposuretochemicals),and infectiousdiseases. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reviews, interprets, and evaluates all medication orders for patients in all age groups. Maintains patient medication profiles in an automated pharmacy information system. Consults with and advises medical, nursing, and other healthcare providers regarding the prescribing, dispensing, or administration of medications. Routinely monitors the patients total drug therapy for effectiveness, side effects, adverse reactions, toxicities, drug interactions, and incompatibilities. Participates in cardiopulmonary emergencies. Performs and documents Pharmacist Intervention activities such as recommendations on drug product selection, dosage adjustments, and appropriate drug therapy. Obtains medication histories on selected patients and communicates pertinent information to the appropriate healthcare provider. Communicates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers as necessary. Prepares and/or verifies the appropriate preparation of medications to be dispensed using the correct technique, as required. Provides drug information and discharge counseling to patients, as required. Provides staffing coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, as required. PRIMARY CUSTOMERS: Patients, Medical Staff, Nursing, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Residents, and Pharmacy Students REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: Incumbent has access to restricted or confidential patient or other highly sensitive business information and must comply with the terms of CHI Policies as they apply to their job role.
