Business Development Columbia, MD, USA Commensurate with experience Hourly Temp Scope : The Summer M&A Intern, Structured Finance , position is focused on the identification of solar and/or battery storage project M&A opportunities and associated third-party outreach. This is a temporary position that will continue for up to three months, in between the end of the 2018-2019 academic year and the commencement of the 2019-2020 academic year. Responsibilities extend across all phases of business development and financing, including: (a) interconnection queue analysis, (b) market research, (c) financial valuation and analysis, (d) partner relationship management, and (e) proposal support. The Summer M&A Intern will have strong organizational skills, financial knowledge and experience, industry experience or exposure, and a deep passion for renewable energy and storage. A successful candidate also will be team-oriented but self-directed, will demonstrate strong reasoning and communication skills (both oral and written), and will be able to prioritize and manage multiple work streams. Responsibilities : Market research on project M&A opportunities - Research of potential project acquisition opportunities from other solar developers, with the goals of: (a) identifying specific projects to acquire or specific development companies to target, and (b) conducting outreach to facilitate acquisition of those projects. Financial valuation and analysis - Working with various teams across the organization (business development, project development, engineering), conduct financial modeling and analysis to support proposals, competitive bids, M&A opportunities, and more. Other duties as assigned. Supervision of Others : No supervision of company personnel. Qualifications : Education/Experience Bachelor's degree: business, finance, or technical degree Currently enrolled in a in post-graduate degree program 2+ years of experience in finance, business development, or technical fields; exceptional entry-level candidates will be considered Prior energy industry experience preferred Familiarity with solar industry terms and sales contract forms preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilitie s Proven track record in building relationships; ability to develop customer relationships through existing contacts and relationships. Ability to articulate complex issues through succinct, cohesive summaries and presentations. Working knowledge or demonstrated ability to quickly learn renewable energy and storage offerings. Entrepreneurial spirit, high energy, and ability to work well in a team environment with proven attention to detail and project management experience. Ability to travel upon request. Experience and/or formal training in structured proposal development is a plus. Willingness to embrace and defend a culture of respect, communication, and accountability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment. Physical Requirements : Office work physical requirements, with some ability to visit customer sites and inspect Company project sites. Working Conditions : Approximately 80% of the time is spent in the office environment or remote work environments, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe, CAD etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Approximately 20% of the time is spent interacting with potential financial partners or other counter-parties, either in in-person meetings or at conferences. Some travel to client meetings, conferences, and offices of Company and affiliates (other than assigned office) maybe required.
