This job brought to you by America's Job Exchange Type: Full Time Location: Fremont, California Job Description: CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering) Internship*Ideal candidate will work at least 2 consecutive terms (i.e. Fall and Spring) Responsibilities: The CAE team is responsible for the crash, safety, and durability analysis associated with the entire vehicle except the powertrain. The analysis methods used in the group cover a wide range linear and non-linear using explicit, implicit and rigid body solvers. Virtual engineering plays a very significant role in the Tesla design process helping to achieve tight timing and very high-performance requirements (5 star US NCAP). Being predictive in CAE is a major focus of the teams work as design decisions are made months in advance of being able to obtain test results. Interns will work on projects supporting vehicle engineering design and manufacturing with finite element (FE) model builds, model updates, development of FE methodologies, scripting and automation, and the analysis of structural crash, occupant safety, durability, and NVH performance. The analysis will cover linear, implicit, and explicit solvers combined with optimization. Qualifications: Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Masters and PhD candidates preferred. Need to have completed statics, dynamics and materials science as an undergraduate with at least two years of University completed. Show strong capability/interest in analytical and numerical techniques with some Basic FEA courses. Experience with CAD and FEA tools a bonus: LS-DYNA, Abaqus, ANSYS, CATIA, Solidworks, ANSA and Hyperworks. Scripting experience in Python and Matlab a bonus.
