POSITION SUMMARY: The Computer Aided Design Systems Technician intern will provide architectural or engineering support for facilities projects. The intern will use several tools, including Excel, Word, and computer aided design (CAD) computer software, to help create detailed construction documents or drawings incorporating the input of architects, interior designers, engineers, and consultants. The intern also updates and maintains building records consisting of drawings, specifications, submittals, and operation and maintenance records or manuals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, and trades to convert information into record documents or drawings Prepare clear, complete and accurate detail documents or drawings from information, spreadsheets, rough sketches and as-builts EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Readily takes action on challenges Displays a can-do attitude Communicates effectively both written or orally Displays excellent customer focus, interpersonal savvy, and outstanding listening skills Outstanding problem solving, organization, and analytical skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, CAD drawing packages Familiarity with Facilities, Construction trades, engineering disciplines Architectural/Interior Design, Engineering student or CAD Technician High School Diploma required; two years of college education preferred Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted for any of the above requirements WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS: Monday Friday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m.; flexibility/additional hours may be required NOTES: This internship begins in mid-August / early-September and is located in the Dallas office. Interns will be expected to work at least 25 hours per week. Employment is contingent upon the selected candidate passing a background check and drug screen.
