Mechanical Engineering Intern Gouvis Engineering Consulting Group, Inc. - Irvine, CA 6 hours agoFull-time$24 an hour Apply Now Skills * Driver's License * AutoCAD * Mentoring The goal of the Gouvis Student Engineer Program (GSEP) is to provide college-level engineering students with practical on-the-job-training and experience, including career mentoring, theoretical and technical instruction, and complete project-related, infrastructure work tasks. Student Engineers are paired with project managers and work in technical teams throughout the organization. Gouvis Engineering is a Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering firm established in 1960. Eligibility Requirements * At the time of application, the applicant must: * be enrolled as a full-time engineering student at an accredited university or college or have proof of full-time registration in graduate courses in a declared graduate engineering major; * have at least sophomore standing in the declared engineering major curriculum at the time of application; * have completed at least one full-time year at an accredited university or college. * Have career goals, curriculum, experience, and/or interests related to the business of Gouvis Engineering Consulting Group. * Have the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. * Be a United States citizen, permanent resident (Green Card holder) or have the legal right to work permanently in the United States. * A Driver License may also be required for the job. Assignments * Provide engineering support for new designs of HVAC and Plumbing systems. * Perform calculations, interpret standards, and prepare drawings and sketches. * Coordinate between disciplines for conflicts in routing and design. * Mark up and annotate PDF files. * Research equipment and materials to confirm capabilities for specified applications. Application Requirements * Unofficial transcript with completed engineering curriculum courses and grades earned. * Resum� showing engineering, computer, math, and science classes completed, and any other relevant work experience. * Cover letter describing your objective as an engineering student and what interests you about engineering and the Gouvis Student Engineer Program. Assignments In Depth * Review ASMEP sheets to ensure that all disciplines show the same building and unit plans. * Overlay mechanical, plumbing and structural plans and highlight any areas of conflict. * Perform and modify HVAC load calculations within accredited software. * Compare HVAC sizing calculations and energy reports with mechanical plans and highlight any discrepancies. * Scan hand written meeting notes and other forms that relate to a specific project. * Count plumbing fixtures and populate forms and tables. * Perform water pressure calculations. * Use AutoCAD to cross reference plans. * Convert drawing files to PDF. * Create details using AutoCAD. Additional Information * The Summer GSEP begins no earlier than May 1 and ends no later than September 30. * Selected candidates are required to start no later than the Monday of the third week in June. * Starting pay for Student Engineers is approximately $24 per hour.
