GIS Paraprofessional Intern Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District - Cleveland, OH3.8 10 hours agoFull-timeEstimated: $29,000 - $37,000 a year Apply Now Education * Doctoral Degree * Bachelor's Degree Skills * GIS Benefits * Tuition Reimbursement * Flexible Spending Account * Health Insurance * Wellness Program * Life Insurance The intern will assist with various projects throughout the assignment, including, but not limited to: GIS Data Conversion - Impervious Area Updates * Analyze and develop District-wide Impervious Surface Area data to support the Regional Stormwater Management Program and other NEORSD project activities (Green Infrastructure site analysis, CSO/Stormwater, Hydraulic/Hydrologic Modeling, etc.) * Perform data analysis, OA-QC and updates in accordance with billing procedures/guide lines. * Perform data research to support QA-QC task including County Parcel Auditor sites and Billing Agent systems. * Develop products (maps, data and reports) to document progress on QAIQC tasks. GIS Data QA-QC- Stormwater Billing Database * Perform QA-QC analysis and update District Stormwater Management Program Billing database * Obtain and analyze local plan/profiles/improvement engineering records. * Geo-reference files, create reference polygons. * Update collection system infrastructure based on plans. Environmental Services- GIS Support Activities * Work with the District Departments to ensure GlS datasets related to environmental and business services activities are properly updated and maintained. * Perform data creation, analysis and exhibit production for ad hoc requests as assigned. * Track requests and progress in department tracking system. * Document procedures for repetitious requests as needed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Academic Status/Standing: * Candidate must be enrolled in school or must have graduated within 24 months from the date of application. Field of Study : * Declared Majors: GIS, Geography, Geology, Planning, Engineering or a related field of study Degree Program Levels (any of the following degree program levels may qualify): * Bachelor Degree (Junior/Senior) * Master/Doctoral Degree Minimum Job Requirements: * Candidate must be able to work 40 hours per week. Working hours are Monday Friday during normal business hours. Working hours will include a combination of regular business hours, weekend and after-hour timeframes and may include legal holidays. This is a temporary position. Work hours will be adjusted as appropriate for interns who are enrolled in school.] * Candidate must be able to commit to up to a 12 month assignment with an option to extend the assignment at NEORSDs discretion. This internship program provides for a time-limited role at NEORSD with no express or implied guarantee of future employment beyond the assignment period. This position is governed by all applicable NEORSD administrative policies, practices and procedures related to temporary employees. * The District requires protective footwear (i.e., steel or composite-toed) when working in the plants, pump stations, construction sites, public rights-of-way and other posted areas. New hires are required to have protective footwear, meeting the following criteria, on the first day of employment: 1) Must be ANSI Z41-1999 or ASTM F-2412/2413 (2005) certified, 2) Must have a steel or composite protective toe, 3) Must be, at a minimum, a 6 work boot or 6 hiker-style boot (Note: shoes are not permitted), 4) Must have a slip-resistant sole. It is also recommended, but not required, that footwear be waterproof and have included a shank to protect the bottom of the foot.
