Job Information SC Department of Public Safety Apprenticeship Consultant in Lexington County, South Carolina Job Responsibilities The Apprenticeship Consultant will serve as the lead outreach and technical expert for the Initiative representing the SC Technical College System Office in the assigned geographic area. Proactively generates new opportunities for the promotion and development of registered apprenticeship programs as a workforce development tool in the assigned region of geographic responsibility. Partners with local school districts and or technical colleges to develop and register SC Youth Apprenticeship programs. Consults with company executives and conducts worksite visits to assess the viability of registered apprenticeship as an appropriate tool to meet individual or group employer training needs. Manages technical assistance process for employers interested in establishing registered apprenticeship programs and guides program development from origin to completion. Identifies informational and financial resources that are available to employer sponsors to assist with the development and sustainability of registered apprenticeship programs in conjunction with stakeholders, develops proposals for employer consideration that demonstrate the viability and complexity of possible implementation. Provides regular recommendations to the Apprenticeship Carolina team concerning strategic and procedural barriers to regional success and proposes strategies for enhancing overall Initiative success. Represents Apprenticeship Carolina at local, regional, and state-level meetings pertaining to registered apprenticeship, workforce development and economic development to promote the System Office Initiative and enhance competence and awareness of conditions and strategies. Additionally, develops an extensive network of stakeholders at all levels of the public and private sector within the region of responsibility in order to identify opportunities for program expansion and promotion. Consultant will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of existing program outreach for companies who have registered programs. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor's degree and four (4) years relevant program experience. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree and experience working in a technical/community college environment and relevant project management and previous industry work experience desired. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written, with ability to effectively relay program requirements to diverse stakeholders including public section representatives and private sector executives from diverse industry backgrounds. Ability to manage and prioritize the simultaneous development of multiple projects and varied customer cases. Ability to exercise good judgment in coordinating complex program development and relationship management. Demonstrated ability to broker successful relationship management. Demonstrated ability to broker successful relationship among service providers pertinent to Apprenticeship programs while remaining sensitive to the relationships among employers, educational institutions and workforce development organizations. Ability to relate well to people both inside and outside of the SC Technical College System and to operate in a team environment.
