Learn more about Atrius Health at www.atriushealth.org Summary of Position As a student in an approved Pharmacy Program, performs a variety of duties in support of pharmacy operations, under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist. Must possess appropriate Pharmacy Intern registration as required by Massachusetts Pharmacy Board of Registration. Essential Functions Enters prescription data into automated pharmacy dispensing system. Performs distribution service as instructed by immediate supervisor, including reconstituting or bulk compounding of a prescription. Performs prepackaging operations involving various pharmacy products, measures prescribed quantities and labels prior to storage. Affixes label to prescription container. Assists patients with pick-up of medications, and provides courteous customer service. Processes and records payments accurately. Within limitations, counsels patients on medications. Interviews patients for allergy screens, compliance, dosage, etc. Reads prescriptions and communicates with providers regarding questions. Receives pharmacy supplies from vendors, confirms quantities received, inspects for damaged shipment, and reports any discrepancies to supervisor. Prices medications and stores appropriately with proper rotation. Inspects and re-supplies clinical areas and emergency carts throughout the site, as directed. Performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company policies and procedures. Non-Essential Functions Performs other duties as needed. Any other duties which are not listed above are considered non-essential functions. Minimum Requirements Education: Must currently attend a College of Pharmacy, and have successfully completed at least two years of education in an approved internship program. Must possess appropriate Pharmacy Intern registration, as required by Massachusetts Pharmacy Board of Registration. Skills and Experience: Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required. Good communication and interpersonal skills also required. One to two years experience in a service industry is preferred. Prior pharmacy experience, cash handling experience, and basic computer skills are desirable. Working Conditions Busy medical environment with frequent deadlines and interruptions. All Pharmacy Operations applicants who receive an offer of employment must pass a pre-employment drug test as a condition of hire. Refusal to engage in drug testing may result in a rescinded offer of employment.
