Start date: July 1, 2019 Time Commitment: Intern hours per week: Student will be expected to commit 24-40 hours per week for a period of 6-8 weeks. Supervision: Intern will be expected to meet with supervisor on weekly basis. This un-paid internship is with the Nashville Public Health Department. Please direct any calls to the Public Health Human Resources Department 615 340-5640 Typical Duties * Participating in collecting, collating, and managing data from multiple sources. This often involves uploading and extracting data, creating, organizing, and updating data files and folders, and developing data dictionaries. * Assisting in data cleaning, assessing and verifying data quality and integrity, and performing basic statistical analyses based on specific project/program requests. * Performing data presentation and data visualization in formats that others can understand; Specific tasks might include preparing charts, graphs, assembling spreadsheets, and summarizing findings. * Assisting in preparation of reports that detail methods, present data summaries, and draw conclusions and recommendations. * Participating in identification of data needs and determination of data collection methods including use of standardized data collection instruments. * Performing literature search to address specific data and project needs. Minimum Qualifications * At least complete a second year of an undergraduate degree in data-related fields such as mathematics, statistics, computer sciences, or engineering. * Knowledge of Excel and MS Access. * Familiar with data analytic and data visualization packages such as SQL, Python, or Tableau. * Strong data and numeric skills.
