IDEA was founded in 2000 as a single school with 150 students in the Rio Grande Valley. When interest exceeded building capacity, to meet the demands, IDEAs co-founders committed to serving more students in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and beyond. We now serve nearly 45,000 students across Texas and Louisiana. By 2022, IDEA will serve 100,000 students. Role Mission: IDEA-Us vision is to transform the higher education experience for students in the Rio Grande Valley by providing a flexible, affordable, and supportive college option. Our interns play an important role to ensure our students excel academically by helping maintain and manage a safe and comfortable working environment.
1. Support Full Time Staff with center operations
Arrives early to ensure office is ready for students before scheduled shift
Closes the center and ensures the center is secure
Ensure the IDEA-U center is a safe, comfortable, and secure space where students can work and learn.
Provide maintenance requests or recommendations for the Director
2. Support the Director with Recruitment of 100 students
Maintain and Manage social media accounts
Provide logistical support for recruitment events
3. Support all students attending IDEA-U
Provide one on one support for all students
Knows all students and team members by name
Has strong customer service skills; is a clear and kind communicator
