Licensed Specialist in School Psychology Company: Sheldon Independent School District Location: Houston Posted on: June 21, 2019 Job Description: Position for the 2018 - 2019 school year: REQUIREMENTS: * Master's degree (doctorate preferred) in psychology from accredited college or university * Valid Texas license as a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology granted by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologist * Spanish-speaking, preferred * Two (2) years successful experience in providing psychological services in an educational setting preferred PRIMARY PURPOSE: * Perform professional psychological services in assessment, behavior management, and counseling services for students with emotional disabilities, learning disabilities, and/or behavioral problems * Assess the psychological and psycho-educational needs of student referred to special education services * Provide guidance to the special education counselor and oversee the behavior programs at each campus SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE: * Knowledge of procedures for assessing achievement and intellectual, emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes * Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions * Knowledge of psycho-social development * Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students * Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Works 195 daysSDL2017
