Howard Foundation (THF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the media and entertainment industry through its programs, resources and services for diverse students, young professionals and companies. THFs Internship Program works nationwide with public and private colleges and universities, recruiting underrepresented groups of college students for internship opportunities with major media companies on both the east and west coasts. Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Associate Manager, Internship Program will aid in the management and implementation of the strategic plan for the T. Howard Foundation Internship Program. This position will actively participate in the recruitment, selection, placement and case management of each intern class; serve as an additional point of contact for partner companies; and relationship management with academic partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to counsel, mentor and motivate college students from diverse backgrounds, and will also demonstrate the ability to work with high-level executives and hiring managers from various business sectors. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruitment Design, implement and execute targeted recruitment strategies Develop and maintain relationships with colleges/universities, host companies and applicants Advance the THF Academic Partners program with key colleges/universities Participate in local and national recruitment events (career fairs, information sessions, etc.) Contribute to the creation of Internship Program marketing collateral Application & Internship Placement Process Oversee application processing to ensure that procedures are followed by staff and applicants Read and evaluate applications and interview candidates for admission to the program Identify students for designated internship positions with partner companies Approve application decisions in partnership with Program Manager Provide Program Manager with weekly reports on application statistics Review and update general internship application email templates and communications Serve as additional point-of-contact for partner companies Follow-up with partner companies on pending intern placements Program Management Supervise staff and oversee Internship Program in the absence of the Program Manager Manage the fall/spring internship program Assist the Program Manager in developing and maintaining relationships with HR or other partner company personnel for the purpose of receiving and fulfilling intern placement requests Oversee the planning and programming associated with Summer Intern Orientation Participate in mid-summer check-in and exit interview process Organize and lead summer intern debrief sessions Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelors degree and 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably in higher education, program management or human resources Minimum two years of experience planning and implementing multicomponent projects Minimum one year of supervisory experience Experience working with college-age population Current knowledge of professional/career development topics Familiarity with college admissions and recruitment strategies Excellent oral and written communication with strong emphasis on presentation skills Strong interpersonal skills with ability to listen and problem solve Team player and self-starter with the ability to perform self-directed research Ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Effectively and enthusiastically represent the mission of the Foundation Work effectively with a wide range of audiences including board members, students, alumni and partner company contacts Ability to work some evening and weekend hours, including overnight travel potentially on short notice Valid drivers license Preferred: Masters degree in relevant field Fluency in Spanish Knowledge of CRM/Salesforce software Experience in curriculum development and evaluation Previous experience working for a non-profit and/or volunteer management A passion for working with diverse groups and a strong commitment to the THF mission The T.
