Marketing and Communications Associate Department College of Journalism & Mass Comm-0908 Requisition Number S_190511 Posting Open Date 06/20/2019 Application Review Date: (To ensure consideration, please submit all application materials before review date) 07/01/2019 Posting Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Description of Work Under the supervision of the business and operations manager, the marketing and communications associate is a key member of the colleges marketing and communications team and supports all aspects of content production and targeted outreach. The position will work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students to coordinate and execute the Colleges ongoing communications activities; originate written and visual content that is in line with the universitys brand; be responsible for the creation and dissemination of stories, press releases, newsletters and other communication materials tailored to specific audiences; plan, coordinate and create content for digital media platforms including the colleges social media channels; maintain and update the colleges website and assist with the development and creation of other promotional materials. Maintaining a compelling and consistent identity for the College in all print and digital communications is a core function of this role. Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelors degree in advertising, marketing, public relations, communications, journalism or related field plus 1 year of experience writing for a variety of communication platforms including publications, websites and social media required; equivalent education/experience considered. Experience engaging audiences across multiple channels necessary. Demonstrated use of both traditional and emerging media platforms essential. Must have excellent writing and editing skills. Knowledge of Associate Press (AP) style required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite or an appropriate alternative necessary. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications Bachelors degree plus 3 years of experience in journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing or communications in a non-profit or academic environment preferred. Experience with social media management systems, content management systems, photography, videography and graphic design desirable. Prefer experience in project management. Knowledge of scheduling and tracking social media posts on several platforms helpful. Familiarity with UNL brand standards helpful.
